Santander 🇪🇸 Padstow
Waiting at the Brittany Ferries Cafe ⛴️ I noticed a fair few vehicles asked to turn round at the check-in kiosk. It could well be down to them not having the correct papers to board ie. statutory arrival forms to get back into the UK and a negative PCR test within 72 hours. You could easily get any of this wrong if not paying attention to the GOV UK website. Plus, not the most straightforward thing to find a PCR test in Santander. A stressful procedure all round!
However, considering it’s difficult for a UK citizen to scarcely get into Spain, it’s not surprising that there wasn’t many going back. The ferry was practically a ghost ship 🛳️ There couldn’t have been more than 100 paying people on board. Bliss 👍
After a good night’s sleep in my cabin (yes, I went posh) we arrived in what was a sunny ☀️ Plymouth.
Once disembarked and some questions on my movements to customs, I was on my bike towards Plymouth train station 🚆 Only a short hop. Now back in the UK silly prices at £10 for a 25-minute train journey. Ridiculous! Welcome back to the ‘Great’ Britain!! Not to mention how ridiculously designed the bike racks were. I had to deflate my front tyre just to get it in! 😤
The weather still held up for the couple of hours riding back to Padstow along the Camel Trail. Springtime 🌼 is very pleasant here when the weather plays fair.
Due to the pandemic not quite over, I had to go through a 10-day self-isolation period. This was easy as I pitched my tent ⛺ in the family garden. Over this time, I had to supply two negative PCR tests. All by post. I even had a visit from an NHS Test & Trace member ⚕️ She was extremely pleasant, but I thought turning up as if going into an operating theatre was a bit over dramatic! I, on the other hand, I had no protection except for a smile and jovial banter 🙂!
Farewell my Europe 🇪🇺 Till next time. Thank you.
