Ballater to Corndavon Lodge
Rest day done & all too quick. Back into back country mode. The best way to be ๐๏ธ Following the Gairn river through the Glanavon estate โฆ
โฆ topped a pleasant day (not long ๐) riding with an awesome wildcamp at Corndavon lodge. No posh lodge, just ruins. Every property seems to be called a lodge ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ Meal time & a dessert treat!
Corndavon Lodge to Delavorar
Yep, in that direction first thing ๐ค Seemed to ride past the weather, but like Father Time, always there! Spot someone else’s tent on the hill โฆ
โฆ more goat track (๐ณ) along the edge of Loch Builg. Them some lovely undulating track with a gusty tailwind to Tomimtoul โฆ
โฆ turned back from Tomimtoul as weather seemed to be closing in โ๏ธ as passed a reasonable wildcamp spot at 2km before. A damp site with the long grass. Wet weather ops had to come into play!
Delavorar to Speybridge
A very wet start to the day and that’s just tramping out of the long grass! So an attempt to dry my cycling shoes out ๐ค๏ธ Sadly 22km of an A rd to Grantown-on-Spey. Lunch spot at a closed (for sale) railway dining car site. Then the heavens opened up on my lunch ๐ โฆ
โฆ refreshed supplies in town. Joined the Speyside Way. Really lovely trail. Found a beaut of a wildcamp ๐๏ธ Ground was dry!
Speybridge to Balnespick
Leaving my penultimate wildcamp ๐๏ธ I found it via a strimmer timmed path. Very much a different scenery on the Speyside Way. Launched the drone for the final time ๐ #djimini2 Back through Boat of Garten & completing the Cairngorms Loop โฆ
โฆ a tardy Aviemore provides a final full day hooray by dumping the heavens ๐ง๏ธ๐ง๏ธ Skulked in outdoor gear shops to dry off!! A further 12km on the EV1/Sustrans 7 (not part of the loop) to a wildcamp I stayed at 2 weeks ago. Pole Pole ๐น๐ฟ
Balnespick to Kingussie
Last 12kms for this bicycle journey to Kingussie station ๐ Trying to book a bicycle online with
@ScotRail is an aweful experience (more on that later). The awesome lady stationmaster at Kingussie (AM 28th June) is a โญ though! Keep station offices open ๐ โฆ
โฆ met on the train a young German ๐ฉ๐ช couple ๐ฉ๐ช bikepacking . Lovely gravel
@canyon_bikes I debused the train at Glasgow Queens Street. Then had to push my bike through another downpour to Glasgow Central ๐คฃ EndEx!
