Dompierre-sur-Besbre 🇫🇷 La Charité-sur-Loire
Leaving Dompierre-sur-Besbre municiple campsite on a sunny day is a pleasant way to set off from anywhere!
I hit the canal 🏞 towards Digoin. Before turning off towards Decize. Joining a purple route running adjacent to the EuroVelo 6
At a small-canal-boat 🛥 park I find myself chatting to another Brit, Martin. Who’s parked up in his motorhome next to the canal. He’s hooked up with free electricity and takes up the use of a spotless ‘douche ‘(shower) cabin. This is all laid on for the canal boats, but no one seems to mind Martin been alongside too. Attempt that in the UK! The French are so free living. Consider he is there for three nights and uses the shops etc. … its how tourism indeed works!
As I head towards Nevers Wild_Jude is en route from Basel along the EuroVelo 6. Why she’s up in Basel, I really don’t know?! LOL 😁
At 26 kms from Nevers I find my first wild-camping-spot next to the canal. Not one person passed me. That’s because everyone else is in a tourist campsite!
The next night I pitch up at a tourist campsite! 😆 I find a spot down by the river. Still quiet!
The next day was a full on the EV6 day. It was flat and canal like! Never seen so many bicycle tourists. Must’ve been the most I’ve ever seen in one day. I may not stay on the EuroVelo too long! 😆
Wild_Jude is still mincing along the EV6 towards me. So I hole up at the municipal campsite at La Charité-sur-Loire. First few nights I tuck myself down the bottom field and then go crazy on a vardo 🚃 (gypsy wagon) for a couple more nights.
With the continuous rain up through central France 🌧 my Samsung EX1 camera has given up the ghost. Not that I got it out when it was raining, it’s just the amount of moisture in the air. So photos are now solely taken with a Nokia Lumia 720 phone 😶
