* This and the previous post still follows the northerly direction of the Munda Biddi Trail, but at times, I detour to take a more direct route. Using maps.me as my mapping tool. Let’s see where it takes me 🔀

Leaving what may be the best ecological campsite I’ve ever stayed at: Sid’s Camping. No fixed-pitch-rates too, you just leave an amount in an envelope. I like 👍

I set off for the last two days on the bike 😥 But, I couldn’t pass the cafe in Northcliffe without stopping for a full-English breakfast 😋

Once again, I leave the Munda Biddi Trail and take my own route towards the Bibbulmun Track. The Bib track/trail was around long before the Munda Biddi was in place. The two, though, follow parallel from the northern terminus in Mundaring for the Munda Biddi and Kalamunda for the Bib track. Both though finish/start with a southern terminus in Albany. They cross each other numerous times.  My target for the day is Warren Hut 🏚

The route is mainly very quiet tar and gravel roads.

Once I’d joined the Bibbulman Track for the few km’s to the hut, I soon realise it’s not designed for a laden bike. Some, very steep sections. One would even struggle here with a backpack on foot.

I’d no idea what the hut would look like. Boy … it’s in a splendid location. Compared to the Munda Biddi huts, this is far older. Most of the Munda Biddi huts are built by prison crews. This one was built by a local cricket club. Pemberton I think.

There was a sign saying one could light a fire. I did, as it’ll be the only occasion I’d get to have one. I didn’t let it last too long and kept it low, as I was too nervous of setting light to the bush 🔥

The next day was a steep-single-track down to a river. Then a long steep pea-gravel climb out from the river 🤣

For my final day, I’m following a bicycle route prescribed for me on my phones Maps.me app. Never purely followed a Maps.me cycle route before 🗺

The route was a pleasant surprise of quiet tar and gravel roads again. Eventually joining the Munda Biddi Trail for the final 10 km’s or so to my last hut on this journey.

Karta Burnu is like a Swiss Chalet in the hills of WA. Just a tad warmer though with lots of flies and snakes! Two nights spent camping here in the pine woods near the hut.  Just to chill … again!

I had a ride arranged back to Perth. Stopping briefly at gnome world. As one does 🍄
